Today’s challenge:
Try a new workout today!
I picked this because I am very familiar with workout ruts. It happens to me like every couple of months where I just fall completely off track and out of love with my current fitness routine. But here’s the thing, there are HUNDREDS of activities that can get your blood pumpin’ and body movin’. So I’m going to share some of the workouts I’ve been diggin’ lately and maybe you can give them a try!! Let me know if you have any workouts that you just LOVE to do.
FREE:
Aubre Winter’s IG workouts: Aubre is a powerhouse of energy. She is so much fun and her workouts get me to my max HR actually every time. The last time I did one of her workouts I was in the 190’s for portions of it and DAMN it felt good. She does dance cardio (so fun), barre style classes and KILLER (seriously I mean killer) toning classes. She usually sticks to light weights, band work or no weights. She does offer classes on zoom for like $12 and has a platform with a monthly membership but I don’t have that. I would say her workouts are pretty damn tough and may not necessarily be beginner friendly. That being said though, she often gives modifications which I have to do a lot bc I have terrible joints (#retireddancerprobs).
MadFit: She is a YouTube fitness GODDESS. She has literally everything you need on her channel. She has a whole section of apartment-friendly workouts that are low impact but still get your heartrate up. I actually did one of her low impact HIIT workouts today and while it was only 20-min, I was sweatin’. She also has dance cardio (some are around 20 min, some to just a single song), quick toning videos and more. Love her and her content.
Rachaelsgoodeats IG workouts: Rachael is a registered dietitian and certified personal trainer. I love her workouts sooo much that I bought her E-book. Her workouts are high intensity and KILLER. They get the job done for sure.
Walking outside :’) Obviously, you all know that this is absolutely free. There are many many many days where I cannot be bothered to pick up a weight or do a jump squat. Nothing wrong with a walk around the neighborhood. I actually have been adding my bala bangle weights to my walks with Odie and it’s added an extra punch. 😉
E-books:
Sarah’s Day: Circuit based workouts. Pretty intense but can get a bit boring if you aren’t in the mood to motivate yourself to do them. Still love her e-books though and she is shredded. She has good YT and IG workouts as well.
RGE E-book: I got this E-book last year during the Q and wow did it kick my butt. It’s intense but a gradual build. The book also starts off with realistic goal-setting and planning before you start the workouts. I loved that.
Apps:
If you want to spend the money on subscriptions here’s some apps that I’ve tried and liked-
Sweat App- tried this app during the Q and actually loved it but didn’t wanna spend that $$$ anymore.
Tone it Up– can’t tell you how they’re doing now, did this app a few years ago in college and liked it.
Nike Training Club- an OG. I’ve been using this app since high school, no lie.
ClassPass– I miss you CP :/ I was OBSESSED with ClassPass before the pandemic, but canceled my membership bc it was pretty pricey and a lot of my fave studios left the app. I would check to see what’s actually available in your area before committing.
All in all, you don’t have to spend money to workout. You don’t need the ankle weights, booty bands or fancy yoga mat (however, it does make workouts fun to have those things). You can use what you have around you, too! Some of my favorite ways to be active don’t involve weights at all. If you live somewhere with warm weather in Feb, I ENVY YOU. I miss doing things outdoors like longer walks, tennis matches with my bf, paddle boarding, swimming (although I’m actually a terrible swimmer and usually just float or layout lmao). Summer can’t come soon enough. ANYWAYSSSS, the point is just to not get discouraged and just get out there and try something new. I’ll tell ya, you’ll never regret a workout but you may regret skipping one.
Xoxo
